As a testament to the close ties established with other organizations, IPMS Philippines Bet Anido once again graced the 35th anniversary of the 16th Attach Squadron (16th AS) of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) at the Danilo Atienza Air Base in Sangley Point, Cavite on August 1, 2009.
The invitation was at the behest of several PAF officers of the unit who are close friends of the Club.
Several of the participating Club members rendezvoused at Blue Wave before proceeding straight to Sangley Point. They brought in their best works for display in the static exhibit in the lobby of the squadron’s headquarters.
The Club members got a special treat of being up close and personal with an OV-10 Bronco and they merrily took pictures to their heart’s content while others measured the dimensions of the aircraft, including a gunpod specially crafted by the PAF that hasn’t been seen outside of the Philippines. Other members tried their hand in handling the ordnance. Officers of the club attended the squadron officers’ forum where they received a certificate of appreciation from the Commanding Officer of the 16th AS, Major Charlie Tiu.
During the festivities, several radio-controlled aircraft enthusiasts were likewise on hand to show off their machines performing fancy maneuvers and fly-bys over the airfield.
The rainy weather hardly dampened the spirits of everybody and by the time it was over and everybody had packed up, they left in high spirits and are looking forward to come back again in subsequent anniversaries of the squadron and its mother unit, the 15th Strike Wing.
